Jeju Air Green Crew said on the 19th it has filed a patent application for an "aircraft carbon reduction calculation system and calculation method."
Jeju Air Green Crew is a task force (TF) voluntarily formed in 2017 by flight crew members interested in environmental protection and carbon reduction.
The newly filed patent is a method to accurately calculate and systematically manage aircraft carbon emissions, which have been difficult to calculate precisely due to operating conditions that vary with circumstances.
Based on 15 carbon-reducing operating techniques developed by the Green Crew, it was created by accumulating and managing carbon reduction data, dividing carbon reduction measures by flight phase, and detailing a carbon reduction framework.
A Jeju Air official said, "The efforts and experience accumulated in the field over nine years have come together to yield meaningful results," and added, "We will continue to identify various technologies and operational measures for practical carbon reduction in the field and contribute to environmental protection."
