An artist who knows proportions. Renault's new flagship crossover 'Filante' has been unveiled.
This car has an overall length of 4915mm. Since the Kia Sorento's overall length is 4815mm, it is longer than the Sorento. Nevertheless, this car does not have third-row seats. Instead of giving up third-row seats, it chose ideal proportions. The exterior adopts the "crossover" form emphasized even in the car's name, secured generous legroom in the second row befitting a flagship, and the trunk space is ample even without folding the third row. The purchase price starts from 43.319 million won (based on tax benefit application if approval as an eco-friendly vehicle by the government is completed).
Renault Korea (CEO Nicolas Paris) unveiled the Aurora Project's second model, the global flagship crossover 'Filante (FILANTE)', for the world premiere on Jan. 13 at the Grand Walkerhill in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul. The first was the Grand Koleos, which has been selling popularly.
The Renault Filante is characterized by its bold, charismatic design, an interior space with a premium tech lounge concept, and the application of an upgraded hybrid E-Tech powertrain.
Renault Korea CEO Nicolas Paris said, "The Renault Filante is a groundbreaking and daring crossover vehicle that condenses Renault's technological flagship that has repeatedly innovated and the human-first philosophy," and noted, "It will meet the high expectations of Korean consumers while further strengthening the Renault brand's premium value in the global market."
Completed through close cooperation between Renault design centers in Korea and France, the Renault Filante design breaks away from traditional body formats and realizes an original "crossover" style that incorporates qualities of both sedans and SUVs. As an E-segment crossover, it has a length of 4915mm, a width of 1890mm, and a height of 1635mm with a larger, lower body size, and a refined three-dimensional rear design reminiscent of a coupe, creating a bold and charismatic first impression in the exterior.
The front design centers on the 'illuminated signature lozenge logo' and 'grille lighting,' with the upper part finished in the same color as the body and the lower part in glossy black to create a visual gradient effect. The full LED headlamps form an integrated whole with the body while remaining an independent shape, emphasizing the vehicle's technological advancement and luxury. The "welcome goodbye lighting animation" that unfolds from the front and rear lamps, including the daytime running lights, when starting and shutting off the engine, is also tasteful.
The rear design features delicate details. The body becomes progressively sleeker from front to rear, embodying the dynamism befitting the car name Filante, which originates from a shooting star. The distinct shoulder line and graceful roof line flow into a "floating rear spoiler," completing Filante's sophistication. The rear window with a steep inclination designed for aerodynamics creates a sleek silhouette, and the LED rear lamps naturally integrated into the body provide a visual effect that makes the vehicle appear wider. The 'metallic black roof' and 'glossy black upper tail gate' applied to the Filante Esprit Alpin connect the vehicle's top and rear in black, adding luxury appropriate to the top trim.
In addition, five exterior colors—Satin Universe White, Satin Forest Black, Cloud Pearl, Urban Gray, and Metallic Black—and three types of two-tone alloy wheels in 19-inch and 20-inch sizes further highlight Filante's graceful design.
The Renault Filante implements a "premium tech lounge" inside to make customers' daily lives more comfortable and richer. The premium tech lounge, completed by combining eco-friendly materials, intuitive yet ergonomic design, and advanced connectivity technologies, offers a comfortable and rich driving experience.
The Renault Filante's interior, where technology and sensibility harmonize, is generous with a 2,820mm wheelbase providing 320mm of knee room in the rear seats and headroom of 886mm (874mm with panoramic glass roof applied).
The 'first class lounge seat' with an integrated headrest structure that envelops occupants provides class-leading comfort. The Esprit Alpin adds a lighting logo and tricolor line deco to enhance luxury. It is also notable that eco-friendly nappa synthetic leather is applied across all trims. The back of the front seatbacks features hidden ports for mounting various accessories to increase space utility, and the 633L trunk space expands to 2,050L with the rear seats folded.
To enhance driving quietness, all trims come standard with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). A French audio specialist Arkamys's 8-speaker advanced sound system is standard, and a 10-speaker Bose® surround sound system that provides higher levels of quietness and high-quality sound with ANC microphones applied to the rear seats is also available as an option. For the Iconic and higher trims, laminated soundproof glass is standard on the front and at the sides between the first and second rows.
The 'panoramic glass roof' with a surface area of 1.1m², the largest in its class, creates an excellent sense of openness and a bright interior atmosphere. It applies double silver (Ag) coating and solar film to maintain comfort despite external environmental changes.
Also, the '3-zone independent full-auto air conditioning system' standard on the Renault Filante allows independent temperature settings for the front and rear seats. Additionally, features such as the 'interior air automatic purification function (PM2.5),' which detects indoor air quality and automatically activates ventilation, and the 'after blow' function, which operates the climate system even when the engine is off before and after driving to manage in-cabin air, help always create a fresh lounge environment.
The Renault Filante applies an upgraded version of the inline parallel dual-motor hybrid system that received good reviews through the Grand Koleos. The hybrid E-Tech powertrain combines a 100kW drive motor and a 60kW starter motor with a gasoline 1.5L turbo direct-injection engine to produce a system maximum output of 250 horsepower. The engine's maximum torque has also become stronger at 25.5kg.m. The Renault Filante's certified fuel economy is 15.1km/L on a combined basis, and it is equipped with a large-capacity 1.64kWh lithium-ion battery enabling up to 75% electric-mode driving in urban segments.
It also applies a Smart Frequency Damper (SFD) to provide the best ride comfort according to driving conditions. The smart frequency damper detects specific frequencies generated by different driving situations to provide comfortable ride quality in urban areas and optimal body-motion control performance for driving stability on highways.
Following Renault's 'Human First' philosophy, up to 34 advanced driving assistance and safety functions have been applied to the Renault Filante.
In particular, 'Emergency Steering Assist (ESA),' which automatically helps avoid collisions when vehicles or pedestrians posing a collision risk are detected within the driving lane during mid-to-high-speed driving at 60–90km/h, and the "rear occupant alert (radar type)", which detects occupants or pets inside the vehicle after the vehicle is turned off and sends warnings and opens or closes windows according to cabin temperature, have been newly included as standard equipment across all trims. A full-digital 'smart rearview mirror' integrating a highway toll system is also newly applied to the Renault Filante.
In addition, advanced driving assistance functions at autonomous driving level 2 implemented with five radars and one front camera are standard across all trims. Also, 18% of the body structure is made of ultra-high-strength 'hot press forming (HPF)' parts, making the body safety outstanding.
The openR panorama screen, designed so that the three 12.3-inch screens are independent yet interconnected, has upgraded hardware performance and has been applied to the Renault Filante.
AI-based services have been newly introduced to the Renault Filante. The TMAP infotainment function newly applies the AI-based voice assistant 'adot auto,' which analyzes drivers' usual driving patterns to recommend destinations and control vehicle functions, providing personalized services. adot auto is based on an LLM (large language model) and can engage in natural conversations with occupants, and it can perform infotainment functions such as phone calls, music, navigation, and multimedia as well as vehicle function commands like climate control and window opening and closing.
In addition, an intelligent vehicle manual service, 'Tips,' has been introduced so that when there are questions about using the vehicle, the AI-based system guides the necessary information, enhancing passengers' ease of use.
Also new entertainment elements applied to Filante include 'R:Racing,' which lets users enjoy racing games linked to actual driving roads, and 'R:Rush,' a rhythm game enjoyed with AI-generated music.
Based on the 5-year unlimited 5G data provided by the Renault Filante, real-time TMAP AUTO navigation, various web app services easily available through the Naver Whale browser, cinema OTT services, music streaming services such as FLO, and existing TMAP infotainment-based services like R:Arcade Game can be enjoyed through the three screens that extend to the front passenger seat. It is also notable that Filante can be set as a hotspot to connect various electronic devices to Wi-Fi without burden.
The Renault Filante can upgrade 85% of the control units that implement advanced driving assistance and safety convenience functions remotely via FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) without visiting a service center. Using the customer's smartphone application My Renault, up to five digital key settings and various functions such as operating the climate system and locking/unlocking the vehicle can be remotely controlled before boarding.
Renault Korea also prepared the 'R:assure premium care solution' to help Filante buyers keep their vehicles in top condition.
First, after purchasing Filante, within three years or 45,000 km of driving, three free services are provided: engine oil set and air conditioner filter replacement and premium vehicle inspection. Brake oil can also be replaced once for free. An industry-leading used car residual value guarantee program is also available. It applies when returning the Filante within five years of purchase and repurchasing a new Renault Korea vehicle under the same or joint ownership. In addition, if using the financial affiliate (MFS) installment plan, the new car exchange program free enrollment benefit is provided.
A 'remote diagnostic service' for Filante buyers is also being prepared. If a customer requests a vehicle inspection through the My Renault app, Renault Korea's service network remotely analyzes the vehicle data to diagnose problems and explains the diagnostic results through customer consultation.
The Renault Filante is priced, based on the special consumption tax reduction and eco-friendly vehicle tax benefit application criteria, at Techno 43.319 million won, Iconic 46.969 million won, and Esprit Alpin 49.719 million won. Also, the Esprit Alpin trim's limited launch edition Esprit Alpin 1955, limited to 1,955 units, which includes augmented reality (AR) head-up display and Bose® surround sound system as well as Esprit Alpin 1955 exclusive name plates, a coat hanger, a tablet holder, and front grille deco as standard accessories, is offered at 52.189 million won. As of Jan. 13, 2026, the Renault Filante is undergoing government approval procedures as an eco-friendly vehicle, and the eco-friendly vehicle tax benefits will be applied upon approval completion.
The Renault Filante is produced at Renault Korea's Busan plant and is scheduled to be delivered from March (however, the Techno trim is scheduled for release in the third quarter), and contracts will be conducted from Jan. 13 at Renault Korea showrooms nationwide.
