Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME) said on the 13th that it opened the "K-startup center (KSC) Silicon Valley" to support domestic startups' entry into the U.S. market and expand exports.
Silicon Valley is KOSME's sixth KSC, and it will support locally expanding startups by growth stage with services such as ▲ providing workspace for startups ▲ expert mentoring ▲ local specialized programs ▲ investment attraction networking.
Among KSC tenant corporations, Genoscube secured a commitment for a large investment from a local investor, raising expectations for tenant corporations' local expansion. KOSME plans to support tenant corporations with its Silicon Valley programs, including technology validation, marketing, and fundraising.
KOSME also signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the accelerator "StartX" in Silicon Valley in the United States on the 8th. Through the agreement, the two sides will ▲ hold networking events between startups entering the local market and Stanford University alumni corporations ▲ build a cooperative framework for accelerating locally expanding startups ▲ link support programs between the two institutions for promising startups.
StartX is a startup accelerator founded around entrepreneurs from Stanford University in the United States. Through this agreement, KOSME will pursue cooperation on local specialized programs, investor relations (IR) for introducing corporations, and links to StartX's regular courses.
Park Jang-hyeok, KOSME's director of global growth, said, "We will make KSC Silicon Valley a platform of support that leads domestic startups' scale-ups, investment connections, and technological cooperation," adding, "We will work with not only relevant local institutions but also global corporations to build success stories of domestic startups entering the U.S. market."
