The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced the winners of the "regional flagship industry video content contest" on the 12th.

The contest has run since Dec. last year to spread a positive perception of small and midsize companies in the 14 metropolitan and provincial regional flagship industry fields through short-form videos.

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) received a total of 249 entries and, after a review by a judging panel of experts in video content, selected 30 final winners, including the grand prize and excellence prizes.

The grand prize was awarded to one work in each of the 14 metropolitan and provincial regions, including Gangwon and South Gyeongsang. In Gangwon, "Heukdori's adventure" earned the honor of the grand prize. By depicting an ordinary clay character reborn as an advanced ceramic component, it conveyed the technological prowess and value of Gangwon Province's ceramic industry.

In South Gyeongsang, "The invisible engine" won the grand prize. Using hand-drawn illustrations, it likened the efforts and excellence of South Gyeongsang's small and midsize companies, which drive Korea's future industries such as advanced aircraft components, to an "invisible engine."

The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) awarded 5 million won, 2 million won, and 1 million won in prize money to the grand prize, excellence prize, and special prize winners, respectively. The 14 grand prize–winning works will be posted on the MSS YouTube channel starting in Gangwon from today over about a month.

Kwon Sun-jae, director general for regional enterprise policy, said, "The winning works selected in this contest are meaningful in that they effectively delivered to the public the innovation value of regional small and midsize companies in regional flagship industry fields," and added, "The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) will continue field-centered policy support so that regional small and midsize companies can grow and the competitiveness of regional flagship industries can be strengthened."
