Renault Korea will release Filante, the second model of the "Aurora Project," in the domestic market in the first quarter.
Renault Korea said on the 5th that it will unveil Filante for the first time at a world premiere event on the 13th. A crossover that blends a sedan and a sport utility vehicle (SUV), it will be produced at the Busan plant. Production for the domestic market will begin in the first quarter, followed by exports to global markets.
Filante takes its name from Étoile Filante, unveiled by Renault in 1956. Meaning shooting star in French, Étoile Filante was a single-seat, ultra-high-speed record car born from incorporating aircraft design to set the world's top speed record. The car, which broke through 300 kph at the time and marked a milestone in automotive history, is also famous as a symbol of sleek design and innovation.
This Filante will be launched as a global flagship model under Renault's "International Game Plan 2027" strategy. The plan is a strategy to create synergy between Europe and non-European regions by launching a total of eight new cars by 2027 from five global hubs outside Europe.
Korea has been designated as the development and production hub for high-end midsize and semi-large cars for this strategy, and the Aurora Project was also carried out under this strategy. The first model of the Aurora Project is the midsize sport utility vehicle (SUV) Grand Koleos, launched in 2024.
Nicolas Paris, CEO of Renault Korea, said, "Filante embodies our vision of a groundbreaking and bold crossover and will become a model that symbolizes Renault's global upmarket strategy targeting premium consumers."
