Renault Korea (CEO Nicolas Paris) on Jan. 5 announced that it will unveil the new flagship crossover "Filante" on Jan. 13.
"Filante (FILANTE)" is the second model of Renault Korea's Aurora project. The first model was the Grand Koleos, which was released the year before last and was a huge success.
Even from the information released on the 5th, a few key points are clear: the new car's name is "Filante," its exterior is a crossover, and its size is large.
The Renault Filante will take its place as a global flagship model under the "International Game Plan 2027" strategy.
Renault's "International Game Plan 2027" is a strategy to create synergy between Europe and non-European regions by launching a total of eight new models by 2027 from five global hubs outside Europe. Korea was designated as the development and production hub for high-end D/E-segment (mid-size and near-luxury) vehicles for this strategy, and the Aurora project was also carried out under this strategy.
The new car's name Filante is derived from the 'Etoile Filante' that Renault unveiled in 1956.
The Etoile Filante, which means shooting star in French, was a single-seat ultra-high-speed record car born from applying aircraft design to set a land speed record. That vehicle, which exceeded 300 km/h at the time and made history in the automotive world, is also famous as a symbol of elegant design and innovation. It is also connected in context to Renault's concept car "Filante Record 2025," which last year at year-end achieved a new record in pure electric vehicle driving energy efficiency.
Renault Korea CEO Nicolas Paris said, "The Renault Filante is the second new car to be introduced in Korea under International Game Plan 2027," adding, "It is a model that embodies our view of a groundbreaking and bold crossover and will symbolize Renault's global upmarket strategy."
The Renault Filante, which will be a new flagship crossover model that crosses the boundary between sedan and SUV, will be produced at the Busan plant and will launch in the domestic market in the first quarter of this year before expanding to global markets.
Detailed information about the Renault Filante will be revealed at the world premiere event held domestically on Jan. 13, 2026. New car orders will be taken at dealerships nationwide starting after the vehicle is unveiled on the 13th, prior to its release.
