MINI Korea is taking preorders for the MINI Cooper electric vehicle dressed in Paul Smith's wit.
This special edition exquisitely blends Paul Smith's unique sensibility with the playful character of the MINI brand. The model name is the complicated "The All-Electric MINI Cooper SE Paul Smith Edition".
MINI and Paul Smith, as representative British brands, have carried out successful collaborations since 1998 based on a shared philosophy of distinctive design and witty sensibility. The all-electric MINI Paul Smith edition is a new result of this deep-rooted collaboration, tastefully applying Paul Smith's distinctive design language throughout the all-electric MINI Cooper.
The all-electric MINI Cooper SE Paul Smith edition reflects dedicated design elements across the exterior.
First, new exclusive exterior colors 'Inspired White' and 'Statement Grey' are introduced, and with the elegant 'Midnight Black' included, it is offered in three colors in total.
Additionally, 'Nottingham Green,' inspired by Paul Smith's hometown of Nottingham, is used as an accent color on the roof and radiator grille surround, side mirror caps, wheel caps and other areas to create a more sophisticated atmosphere. In particular, the Nottingham Green roof places Paul Smith's characteristic signature stripe behind the B-pillar to stylishly reveal that it is a Paul Smith edition. However, for the Midnight Black color, the signature stripe black featuring a matte and glossy black striped design on the roof is applied.
It is equipped with 18-inch Night Flash spoke black lightweight alloy wheels, and Paul Smith lettering appears on the wheel caps and the tailgate handle. In addition, a dark steel color is adopted for the MINI logo, and the signature light, which operates when the door is opened, uses the lettering 'hello' to convey Paul Smith's wit.
The black-blue band surrounding the lower body is made from material recycled from fishing nets to consider sustainability, and it adds meaning as a special design element used only in the Paul Smith edition.
Inside, Paul Smith's signature stripe design is used extensively. The JCW sport seats and the dashboard are also decorated with the signature stripe, and the bottom of the sports steering wheel uses a strap with the signature stripe in vibrant colors to further emphasize that it is a Paul Smith edition.
The signature stripe is also presented graphically at the top of the 240mm-diameter circular center display, and a dedicated background bearing Paul Smith lettering is applied to convey the Paul Smith edition's wit in the digital environment. In addition, Paul Smith's motto, "Every day is a new beginning!" was placed on the door sills, and Paul Smith's distinctive Paul's rabbit graphic was engraved on the floor mats.
The all-electric MINI Cooper SE Paul Smith edition is equipped with an electric motor that produces a maximum output of 218 horsepower and a maximum torque of 33.7 kg·m. Based on the electric vehicle's characteristic instantaneous acceleration response, it reaches 0 to 62 mph in 6.7 seconds, and even as an electrified model you can vividly feel MINI's unique lively and dynamic driving character.
The high-voltage battery has a capacity of 54.2 kWh, allowing a range of 300 km on a single charge under the climate-certified standard, and up to 400 km under WLTP standards. In addition, during rapid charging, the battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in about 30 minutes.
The all-electric MINI Cooper SE Paul Smith edition will accept preorders for a limited run of 100 units on MINI Korea's online sales channel, 'MINI Shop Online,' and the price is expected to be set between 59 million won and 61 million won.
