POSCO has appointed Kim Jeong-hoon, former chief safety officer (CSO) of Hyosung Heavy Industries, as head of the Safety Planning Office under the Safety, Health and Environment Division.
According to POSCO on the 2nd, the former CSO Kim was appointed head of POSCO's Safety Planning Office on the 30th and will take office on the 6th.
The position of POSCO Safety Planning Office head had remained vacant even after this year's organizational reshuffle and executive appointments. At the time, the company said it would bring in an external safety expert with experience at a global safety consulting firm and in the field, and a little over a month later, the former CSO Kim was selected.
With the appointment of the Safety Planning Office head, POSCO has established its safety-related organizational framework. Earlier, Jang Jeong-ho was appointed head of POSCO's Safety and Environment Division under the Safety, Health and Environment Division.
A POSCO official said, "We have recruited an external expert to be responsible for safety so we can look at on-site operations with a fresh perspective and carry out rigorous safety management."
