Kim Seung-youn, Hanwha Group chair, emphasized in a New Year's address on the 2nd that "only by securing fundamental technologies that will determine the future in key business areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the defense industry can we continue to lead for 50 years, 100 years."
Kim said, "We must look far ahead and maintain prudence that does not get swept up in the trends, and the focus to respond swiftly to change," and stated accordingly. He added, "Hanwha has become a national champion corporations racing toward global leadership in defense and shipbuilding," and said, "All the more at times like this, we must not become complacent but tighten the reins of innovation, including securing future-leading technologies."
Kim said, "Nations and corporations alike must go beyond simple interests and become partners that share the future with counterpart countries and corporations to pioneer new markets," and added, "In particular, MASGA ("Make American Shipbuilding Great Again") should be planned and executed with the determination that Hanwha will take full responsibility centered on the U.S. Philly Shipyard." He went on to say, "As a core partner, we must broaden and deepen cooperation in shipbuilding between the two countries through the construction of warships and nuclear-powered submarines."
Kim reiterated "Together Further," the win-win management principle that has continued for 25 years. Kim said, "Workers at partner companies are also Hanwha family, and local communities are also Hanwha's business base," and added, "Stable operations and sustained business performance are possible when we work with partner companies and local communities." Kim added, "Above all, remember the principle of safety first."
Referring to the successful fourth launch of Nuri, Kim said, "Hanwha has turned the dreamed-of future into the present and entered space, becoming a key player in global defense," and added, "It is all thanks to all of you who have constantly challenged yourselves and dedicated yourselves."
