POSCO Group Chair Chang In-hwa visited the Pohang steel mill on Jan. 2, the first business day of the new year, and emphasized "safety management."
POSCO Group said Chang In-hwa held a kickoff ceremony that day at Space Walk, a landmark in Pohang, North Gyeongsang Province. Present were the heads of business units based in Pohang, Deputy Ministers of POSCO Holdings and the four core affiliates, POSCO employees, partner firms, the companywide labor-management council representatives, and the labor union Chairperson.
Chang wished for POSCO Group's safety and stressed achieving management goals and realizing its vision. In the New Year's address, Chang said, "Let's establish a culture where workers take the lead in managing workplace safety and spread K-Safety best practices."
Chang then continued on-site management by visiting POSCO's Pohang Works Plate Mill No. 2 and Steelmaking Plant No. 2 to encourage employees and executives.
Business subsidiaries within POSCO Group held separate kickoff ceremonies. POSCO International emphasized accident-free operations at the Cheongna Incheon Power Plant, with President Lee Gye-in, key executives, and the labor union Chairperson in attendance.
POSCO E&C held a New Year safety pledge event at the construction site of the soon-to-open Incheon Third Link Bridge, where President Song Chi-young joined employees and executives to share key strategies on safety and health.
POSCO FUTURE M also held a New Year safety pledge event at Pohang Sabang Memorial Park, gathering President Eom Gi-cheon, key executives, and representatives of the delegate body.
Chang said, "Let's strengthen the fundamental competitiveness of the steel business, stabilize the energy materials business based on orders, enhance the capability to generate revenue in energy businesses such as LNG, and build the group's business portfolio by discovering new businesses."
