Chair Hyun Jeong-eun of Hyundai Group said, "I hope to see progressive changes in inter-Korean relations this year, and I ask that you be thoroughly prepared to act at any time depending on the circumstances," signaling a resolve to resume inter-Korean economic cooperation.
In a New Year's address released on the 2nd, Hyun said, "Expectations for easing tensions on the Korean Peninsula are rising again," and stated accordingly, "Let's show the will and action to lead a change of era." Hyun also noted, "Uncertainty always comes with new opportunities, and only those who act can seize them," stressing preemptive execution.
Hyun then introduced an anecdote about a lost army that survived thanks to the wrong map, saying, "What matters more than perfect information is preemptive action."
Hyun also called for innovating the management system with the goal of embedding AI. Hyun said, "The evolution of AI is expected to drive changes in every field," and added, "Since AI technology excels at predicting market trends and customer behavior, all affiliates should redesign AI-embedded management systems this year and focus on strengthening capabilities for preemptive customer response."
At the same time, Hyun said, "AI analyzes customer data, but interpreting the market is up to employees' insight and judgment," adding, "We must strengthen insight through strategic thinking for customer response, 'Sense making.'"
Hyun also emphasized "trust-based management centered on shareholder value" for sustainable growth. Hyun said, "Enhancing shareholder value is the inherent duty of corporations, and shareholder trust is the starting point for sustainable growth," adding, "We must lay the foundation for future growth through concrete practices of returning profits to shareholders."
Meanwhile, Hyundai Group held a first-workday-of-the-year event that day at the Hyundai Group headquarters in Yeonji-dong, Jongno-gu. Executives of each affiliate presented employees with vitamin gifts along with New Year deokdam, and encouraged them with programs such as a wish wall and a four-cut photo booth.
