Korea Technology Finance Corporation (KOTEC) held a New Year's kick-off ceremony at its Busan headquarters on Jan. 2, 2026, and officially announced the vision of "leaping forward as a global technology finance hub that opens Korea's future together with innovative companies."
This vision reflects KOTEC's determination to faithfully carry out the new administration's national agenda and lead a new era of growth amid a rapidly changing global environment. KOTEC presented challenge and innovation, growth and future, and trust and co-prosperity as core values for realizing the vision, and said all executives and employees will share and put them into practice.
Last year, KOTEC provided guarantees totaling 31.8 trillion won, about 2.9 trillion won more than initially planned, supporting crisis recovery and innovative growth for export companies and advanced technology companies struggling with changes in the global trade environment. It also expanded guarantee-linked investments in blind spots of private investment, such as startups and regional companies, contributing to the revitalization of the venture investment market.
This year, KOTEC plans to strengthen full-cycle, tailored support for small and midsize venture companies with technological prowess and innovativeness, and build an open innovation ecosystem spanning home and abroad to leap forward as a central pillar of global technology finance.
In a New Year's address that day, Chairman Kim Jong-ho of KOTEC set out key tasks for 2026: ▲ expanding support for future strategic industries and advanced technology companies to respond to the global competition for technological supremacy ▲ achieving co-prosperity and fair growth by revitalizing technology transactions and protection and M&A ▲ accelerating innovation in operations and services based on AI transformation (AX). Kim also emphasized clean, ethical management and creating a safe and happy workplace, urging the corporation to fulfill its duties as a public institution that the people can trust.
Lastly, Kim quoted "The Road Not Taken" by the American poet "Robert Frost," saying, "A road that many have already traveled cannot make a difference," and, "I hope this will be a year of boldly taking the road not taken to carve out a new future."
