POSCO Art Museum said on the 31st it will present a special exhibition, Hanji Spectrum, featuring Ahn Chi-yong, one of the national intangible cultural heritage "hanji master (韓紙匠)," together with young artists Park Song-hee and So Dong-ho.
The exhibition runs free of charge through Feb. 1 next year. Jan. 1, New Year's Day, is closed.
POSCO Art Museum said the exhibition should draw attention to the "artistry of hanji." Visitors can see traditional hanji imbued with the craftsmanship of hanji master Ahn Chi-yong, as well as contemporary hanji reinterpreted by young artists.
Artist Park Song-hee added images of tradition, nature and everyday life to hanji. Artist So Dong-ho realized space and objects with hanji. POSCO's steel products were also used in this exhibition.
A POSCO Art Museum official said, "We structured it so visitors can see how the material of hanji meets technique and expressive power at the intersection of masters and young artists and expands into art."
POSCO Art Museum donated revenue raised from visitors' purchases of catalogs and souvenirs to the POSCO 1% Sharing Foundation. The foundation provided support by producing a "custom hanji dryer" using POSCO stainless steel in the hanji drying process.
Meanwhile, POSCO Group in May held a volunteer activity during the Global Volunteer Week event in which hanji master Ahn Chi-yong and local elementary school students made hanji together and drew the Taegeukgi.
