Doosan Enerbility said on the 31st that it signed an EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) supply contract with Yawol Offshore Wind Power to build the Yeonggwang Yawol offshore wind farm with a capacity of 104MW (megawatts). The supply contract is worth 575 billion won.
The Yeonggwang Yawol offshore wind farm project will install a total of 13 offshore wind turbines of the 8MW class in waters off Nakwol-myeon, Yeonggwang-gun, South Jeolla Province. The 8MW-class offshore wind turbine developed in 2022 is characterized by a design tailored to Korea's environment, where wind speeds are slower than in European countries.
This is the first time Doosan Enerbility has signed a supply contract for an 8MW offshore wind turbine. Doosan Enerbility is aiming to complete the Yeonggwang Yawol offshore wind farm in Mar. 2029.
Through this contract, Doosan Enerbility will carry out EPC work across the entire project, including supplying the independently developed 8MW offshore wind turbines. The Power Service BG will handle the supply of wind turbines, and the Plant EPC BG will be in charge of supplying equipment as well as installation and construction. Doosan Enerbility will execute a long-term service contract after completion and will be responsible for the stable operation of the project.
Lee Hyun-ho, head of the Plant EPC BG at Doosan Enerbility, said, "It is significant that, along with the first supply of our independently developed 8MW offshore wind turbine, we will perform the entire EPC process at a large-scale offshore wind farm."
