SK Group will bring in former First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy Park Sung-taek as president of SK China, which oversees the group's business in China.
According to the business community on the 31st, Park, the former Vice Minister, has been named the new president of SK China. As tensions between the United States and China have intensified and policy uncertainty has grown, SK Group appears to have hired Park to respond to risks.
Park, the former Vice Minister, entered public service in 1995 by passing the 39th Higher Civil Service Examination and served as director of the Electric Power Industry Division at the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MOTI), chief of staff to the Minister, director of the Trade Policy Division, director general for Investment Policy, director general for Energy Industry Policy, director general for Industrial Policy, and director general for Trade Security Policy. Under the Yoon Suk-yeol administration, Park handled industry, trade, and energy policy as the presidential office's secretary for policy coordination and secretary for industrial policy. Park served as the first Vice Minister of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy from August last year to June.
SK Group is conducting business in China with a focus on semiconductors. SK hynix operates DRAM and NAND flash plants in Wuxi, Jiangsu province, and Dalian, Liaoning province, respectively.
