Korean Air said on the 29th that Korean Air C&D Service (KC&D), an in-flight meal production and onboard sales company, was hit by an external hacker attack, leaking some personal information of the company's employees.
KC&D is a company established after acquiring the in-flight meal business and onboard duty-free sales business from Korean Air in 2020. Korean Air holds 20% of the total equity.
Korean Air said it determined that the leaked information includes names and bank account numbers on the enterprise resource planning (ERP) system of Korean Air employees stored on the KC&D server, and that there has been no customer data breach so far.
Korean Air said, "Immediately after recognizing the breach, we completed emergency security measures, including a safety check of service integration with KC&D," and added, "We preemptively reported the above to the relevant authorities and are doing our utmost to protect personal information."
