Startup Alliance said on the 29th that it has appointed Lim Jungwook, former head of the Startup Venture Innovation Office at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, as its new co-CEO. Lim will take office on Jan. 2 next year and will lead Startup Alliance together with current CEO Lee Gidae.
Lim served as the inaugural head of the Startup Alliance center for seven years starting in 2013 and is credited with helping to invigorate Korea's startup ecosystem. Lim has built a career spanning media, global internet companies, venture capital, and government ministries, bridging the private and public sectors. Lim is also regarded as having on-the-ground global experience, including direct involvement in the innovation ecosystems of the United States and Japan. Startup Alliance plans to strengthen its role as a policy think tank and expand the startup ecosystem's global network.
Lim said, "Over the past 10 years, Startup Alliance has worked to energize the Korean startup ecosystem," and added, "Based on the experience accumulated in the venture capital industry and government over the past six years, I will do my best to help the Korean startup ecosystem take another leap forward."
