HD Hyundai Construction Equipment and HD Hyundai Infracore, which are set to launch as HD Construction Equipment in January next year, said on the 26th that they received an A grade, the highest grade in the climate change response institutional sector, from the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a global sustainability assessment organization.
CDP is an international nonprofit that asks major corporations worldwide to disclose environmental management information such as climate change and water security, and analyzes and evaluates it. Along with the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices (DJSI), it is recognized as a credible indicator for measuring a company's environmental, social and governance (ESG) management level. As of 2024, only about 20 domestic corporations received an A grade.
In this assessment, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment rose one notch from last year's A- to the top grade. HD Hyundai Construction Equipment said this was the result of concrete efforts to cut carbon, including: ▲ achieving RE100 at its Brazil business sites ▲ introducing an internal carbon pricing system ▲ expanding the pool of supply chain partners subject to ESG.
In particular, the Brazil business sites achieved global business site RE100 for the first time in Korea's construction equipment industry. The company signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with a power supplier centered on hydropower generation and, through I-REC (International Renewable Energy Certificate), secured a total of 5,797 MWh of renewable energy.
HD Hyundai Infracore tripled its renewable energy procurement from a year earlier through self-generated solar power and power purchase agreements, and strengthened board expertise to maintain an A grade for the second consecutive year.
