Hyundai Motor has named its first female president. The honoree is Jin Eun-sook, 57, who oversees ICT.
Hyundai Motor Group said on the 24th that it promoted Vice President Jin, who oversees ICT, to president to lead software and IT innovation and accelerate the digital transition. It comes about nine months after Jin was appointed in March as Hyundai Motor's first female inside director and as an IT expert inside director.
Since joining Hyundai Motor Group in 2022 as ICT head, President Jin has led the group's IT innovation strategy, including integrating a global one app and building a next-generation ERP (enterprise resource planning) system.
Jin is regarded as having expertise and a global sense in key areas such as cloud, data, and platforms through diverse experience in the ICT industry, including serving as chief technology officer (CTO) at NHN. Jin was also recognized for leading innovation in Hyundai Motor Group's IT ecosystem and spearheading a developer-centered organizational culture.
A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "Jin will enhance development and operations capabilities across the group's IT systems and infrastructure to accelerate the digital transition, and will also demonstrate pivotal leadership in establishing and executing the group's future IT strategy."
On the same day, Hyundai AutoEver, Hyundai Motor Group's software specialist, named Executive Vice President Ryu Seok-moon, 53, a former developer, as the new CEO. The personnel move aims to strengthen technological and quality competitiveness.
Ryu previously served as CTO at SOCAR and as a technology director at Riot Games. Since joining Hyundai AutoEver last year, Ryu has led the software platform division, spearheading core projects such as building IT systems and platforms and developing in-vehicle software.
A Hyundai Motor Group official said, "This reshuffle is characterized by placing leaders with technological and development capabilities at the forefront in the software and IT sectors," adding, "To transition into a software-centered mobility corporations, we will strengthen technology-driven management and continue groupwide investment."
