Hyundai Rotem said on the 22nd that it signed a contract with Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) for an electric multiple unit supply project.
The contract is worth 259.1 billion won, equivalent to 5.9% of Hyundai Rotem's revenue last year (4.3765 trillion won). The contract period runs from the 19th of this month to May 21, 2029.
This is a project for 156 electric multiple units ordered by KORAIL in Oct. It includes 140 units for Seoul Subway Line 1, 12 units for the Suin Line, and 4 units for the Seohae Line. Hyundai Rotem, Woojin Industrial Systems Co., and Romansys bid for the project, and Hyundai Rotem won.
It is the first time in about six years since the "KORAIL 448 units" project in 2019 that Hyundai Rotem has won a large-scale order of 100 or more standard electric multiple units in Korea.
