Hanwha Ocean said on Dec. 19 that it won an order worth 2.5891 trillion won for seven liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers from a European shipowner.
LNG carriers are considered a representative high-revenue ship type. Hanwha Ocean said production efficiency and profitability will be maximized because all seven vessels ordered this time will be built to the same specifications.
So far this year, Hanwha Ocean has won orders for 51 ships, including 20 very large crude carriers (VLCCs), 17 container ships, 13 LNG carriers, and one icebreaking research vessel, for a total order intake of $9.83 billion. It surpassed last year's performance ($8.98 billion).
Hanwha Ocean said, "We confirmed that European shipowners and charterers have high trust and interest in reducing carbon emissions from LNG high-pressure engines, an area where Hanwha Ocean has strengths."
