Daedong Agtech, the future agriculture solution corporations of the Daedong group, said on the 17th that it carried out personnel moves, including a reorganization and the recruitment of executives.
Daedong Agtech is strengthening its domestic and overseas businesses with precision agriculture, smart farming, and ITO (Information Technology Outsourcing) as its three pillars. The latest reorganization focused on reinforcing the company's three main businesses.
The precision agriculture institutional sector was overhauled into a system centered on developing agricultural solutions and platforms. To that end, the company created a Solutions Development Division and placed a Platform Planning Team and a Platform Development Team under it. It also newly formed an On-Device Team to handle mass production and commercialization of IoT hardware installed on autonomous agricultural machinery and robots.
Beyond open-field precision agriculture, the company will also push forward in earnest with a greenhouse smart farming business needed to respond to the climate crisis. To this end, it established the AF (AI-FARM) Operations Division with the goal of providing an integrated solution that covers AI-based greenhouse construction, crop cultivation and greenhouse operations, and through to harvesting and distribution.
The ITO organization was reorganized into a specialized body that spans DT core systems, the introduction of new technologies, and infrastructure operations, and it newly formed an operations center dedicated to the Daedong group's AI transformation (AX) project. Through this, the company plans to lay the groundwork for providing integrated ITO services across group companies and for the systematic execution of the AX project.
With this reorganization, Daedong Agtech brought in outside experts to strengthen specialization by field. It appointed Managing Director Oh Hyeon-seok, who led development at Mobility42, as head of the Solutions Development Division. Oh, a graduate of the KAIST Department of Computer Science, is expected to help bolster Daedong Agtech's competitiveness in agricultural solution technology based on development experience accumulated at various IT and software corporations.
It appointed Managing Director Chung Joo-young, who oversaw real estate investment and development at KT, as head of the AF Business Planning Division. Chung plans to lead the buildout of public smart farms and new businesses based on wide-ranging experience, including supervising KT infrastructure construction, U-City planning, the asset management office, and investment and development execution at KT Estate.
Managing Director Bae Sang-gyun, an ERP expert formerly with Hyundai AutoEver, will serve as head of the Group AX Operations Center. Bae is expected to play a key role in the Daedong group's AI transformation based on experience in numerous projects, including Global Single Instance (GSI) ERP design and build. Managing Director Lee Hyuk, who served as a vice president at Sandoll, joined as head of Corporate Planning. Lee held various roles at KT, including mobile finance, corporate strategy, group strategy, and subsidiary CFO, and successfully led two IPOs.
