Hyundai Motor said on the 17th it released the partially modified model of the multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) Staria, the "The New Staria." It is the first partial change in 4 years and 8 months since its launch in Apr. 2021.
Hyundai Motor explained it applied an "inside-out" design theme to The New Staria's exterior, extending the interior design's sense of space and openness to the outside. It changed the existing three-part daytime running lights to a continuous lamp by connecting them into a single horizontal line, and newly applied an engraved-style "STARIA" logo on the side of the daytime running lights.
In configuring The New Staria's interior, Hyundai Motor focused on enhancing visual stability around a horizontal layout. It replaced the cluster and infotainment screen, previously 10.25 inches, with a 12.3-inch large display, and switched some infotainment and climate control operations from touch to physical buttons.
The New Staria is offered with two powertrains: hybrid and LPG (liquefied petroleum gas). The hybrid model uses a 1.6 turbo-hybrid engine, delivering a fuel economy of up to 13.1 km/L, a maximum engine output of 180 horsepower, and peak torque of 27.0 kgf·m. The LPG model is equipped with the Smartstream LPG 3.5 engine, achieving up to 6.9 km/L, a maximum output of 240 horsepower, and peak torque of 32.0 kgf·m.
In addition, it increased the rigidity of the body-to-frame joints and applied bushings to the frame to strengthen response to road impacts. It also increased the thickness of the sound-absorbing material between the engine bay and the cabin to reduce engine noise intrusion during acceleration and idling. A new "walk-away lock" function was added, which automatically locks the doors when the driver walks away carrying luggage.
The New Staria is offered as the standard model "The New Staria" (Tourer LPI 11-seater, Hybrid 9- and 11-seater, Cargo LPI 3- and 5-seater, Hybrid 2- and 5-seater) and the premium passenger model "The New Staria Lounge" (LPI 7-seater, Hybrid 7- and 9-seater).
