LG Electronics will showcase "AI-powered In-Vehicle Solutions" at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, U.S., starting on Dec. 6 (local time), applying AI to its latest automotive electronics technology to transform the entire vehicle interior—from the driver's seat to the passenger and rear seats—into a safer and more convenient occupant-tailored space.
LG Electronics' new AI-powered in-vehicle solution received the "CES Best of Innovation" award, given to the most innovative products and services exhibited at CES.
LG Electronics will operate an experience zone where visitors can try the solution firsthand. The experience zone consists of three parts: a "display solution" that expands the interface across the entire driver's area by applying a transparent OLED display to the windshield; a "vision solution" that applies vision AI to the driver and front passenger to provide various safety and convenience information based on gaze; and an "entertainment solution" that delivers context-appropriate services such as content, video calls and translation in the rear seats through AI curation.
At the display solution experience zone, visitors can see AI intuitively presenting needed information through a windshield with a transparent OLED. For example, when a traffic light appears, AI displays the waiting time near the traffic light and selects and shows the information it judges to be most necessary at that moment. In the driver's seat while in autonomous driving mode, visitors can also see AI analyze the surrounding environment and play images that create a fitting mood for the situation. When passing a road lined with fully bloomed cherry trees, it produces falling cherry blossom effects, and when passing through a monotonous tunnel it overlays a dreamy forest image, giving the driver an immersive experience akin to virtual reality.
At the vision solution experience zone, visitors can experience the driver and front passenger seats with in-cabin sensing technology enhanced by AI. AI analyzes the driver's gaze and if gaze aversion continues for a certain period automatically switches to autonomous driving mode. Using cameras inside and outside the vehicle to analyze what occupants are looking at, AI can provide information about a product advertised on an electronic billboard where an occupant's gaze stops and can even proceed to purchase.
At the entertainment solution experience zone, LG Electronics will present a rear-seat entertainment system enhanced by AI. Occupants can enjoy context-tailored experiences through AI curation. AI recognizes scenery beyond the window and shows photos containing memories from that location on the window display. Occupants can connect a video call with family to share memories together. On the way to pick up food, AI recommends content the occupant might like, and during the food pickup process, if an employee uses sign language, AI interprets the sign language and displays subtitles on the display to facilitate two-way communication.
At CES 2026, LG Electronics will also introduce its on-device in-vehicle AI solution for automaker customers, the "AI Cabin Platform." The AI Cabin Platform applies various open-source-based generative AI models—including a vision language model (VLM) that analyzes visual information, a large language model (LLM), and image generation models—to LG Electronics' in-vehicle infotainment systems to create new in-vehicle experiences for occupants.
Eun Seok-hyun, head of LG Electronics' Vehicle Solutions Business Division and executive vice president, said, "We have materialized our future mobility vision by adding various AI features to production-ready solutions such as in-cabin sensing that are already under discussion with global automaker customers," and said, "We will make these innovations a reality within a few years and lead the era of AI-centered vehicles."
