The Office of the SME Ombudsman said on the 16th that it held the awards ceremony for the "2025 Korea SME Regulatory Rationalization Awards" at the Bankers Club in Jung-gu, Seoul.
Held under the slogan "Beyond recovery, everyone grows! On the corporate site," the event was organized to recognize and encourage 55 contributors who helped boost on-site vitality of corporations and discover and improve regulatory difficulties, and to share cases of regulatory improvement.
At the SME Regulatory Rationalization Awards that day, the Order of Industrial Service Merit went to Vice Administrator Jeong Pil-jun of Korea Southern Power Co. (KOSPO), and presidential commendations went to Deputy Director Jeong Hae-il of the Defense Acquisition Program Administration and Vice Administrator Han Gi-seong of the Wonju Medical Device Industry Promotion Foundation.
Vice Administrator Jeong Pil-jun played a key role in proactively establishing contract standards that link supply prices with partner companies and spreading them to all public institutions, and actively pushed regulatory improvements in public procurement and renewable energy. Deputy Director Jeong Hae-il established standard airworthiness certification criteria tailored to small drones, significantly lowering the regulatory barriers to airworthiness certification for small drone manufacturers. Vice Administrator Han Gi-seong was recognized for contributions to easing on-site regulations and providing support in the regional medical device field.
The Korea SMEs and Startups Agency (KOSME), which contributed to discovering 760 regulatory difficulties and improving 255 over the past two years, received a presidential group commendation. Park Seon-chun, CEO of CGinside, received a commendation from the deputy prime minister and finance minister for contributing to developing a regulatory platform and building a base for providing regulatory information, and Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province received a commendation from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) for operating the Gangwon corporate ombudsman system and promoting improvements to corporation-related municipal ordinances.
Jeong Hyeon-mo, Vice Administrator of the Korea Association of Industrial Innovation SMEs, who actively discovered hidden regulatory difficulties among association member corporations and proposed rationalization, and Director Kim Jung-kwan of the Korea Association of Small and Medium Business Technology Innovation also received commendations from the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS).
Choi Seung-jae, the SME ombudsman, said, "Growth for both SMEs and small merchants is ultimately the core of national competitiveness, and above all, it is crucial that on-site voices are accurately and properly reflected in regulations, systems, and policies," adding, "For the growth of all of our corporations, we will discover and propose even one more hidden regulatory difficulty and engage in intense consultations with the competent agencies so that the voices from corporate sites are reflected in the government."
