Beauty tech corporations "ImagineFactory" said on the 12th that it was selected as the lead research and development institution for the "2025 SME Technology Innovation Development Project (purchase-linked – innovative challenge)" organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
ImagineFactory will identify the relationships among artificial skin sensors, human sensory data, and consumer post-use response data, and will work on developing a model in which AI automates cosmetic formulations. The project is overseen by the Korea Technology and Information Promotion Agency for SMEs (TIPA), with the Seoul Center for Creative Economy & Innovation participating as the operating institution. Amorepacific is also participating as a demand-side corporations.
ImagineFactory has accumulated knowledge in the beauty and health sectors by providing consulting to cosmetics corporations laboratories since 20 years ago, and has steadily integrated data analysis and AI model development capabilities. In particular, it has developed AI-based solutions using Deep Dive Analytics.
For innovation in the data collection process, this project designs an Agentic System to improve three areas: collection coverage, collection volume, and data quality. It is also developing a "cosmetics sensory reverse-design model" based on AI Reinforcement Learning, which is needed for combining cosmetic ingredients.
In particular, when changing important formulations, it uses the "Alphafold Evoformer Architecture," which won the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, in an AI model that accurately predicts sensory feel. This solution turns human affective quality into data via sensors and is an innovative model that generates cosmetic formulations by consolidation this big data with AI technology.
Beyond this research project, ImagineFactory is also developing and operating various beauty-tech solutions. A solution that detects and assesses skin irritation responses (erythema) with Deep Learning was published as a paper by the European Society Contact Dermatitis. It is also operating a solution in which AI predicts preservative formulation results for safety in cosmetic formulation, dramatically shortening product development time.
Cho Seong-won, CEO of ImagineFactory, said, "We will plan and develop creative solutions across various industries beyond beauty tech."
