The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) said on the 11th that it held the "Venture future vision forum" at COEX in Seoul to mark the 30th anniversary of venture and the 20th anniversary of the mother fund, and to discuss the direction of domestic ventures and startups.
The forum moved away from a format- and procedure-centered event and was conducted as a "collective intelligence venue" to reflect the insights of domestic and overseas innovative entrepreneurs in policy.
Jeong Se-ju, CEO of the global healthcare corporations "Noom," took the stage as a special lecturer and offered views on vivid startup experiences and entry into global markets.
In the free talk with venture people, domestic and overseas venture businesspeople and investors discussed on-the-ground issues such as securing technology sovereignty and attracting global talent, as well as policy alternatives.
Minister Han Seong-sook announced a future strategy mid-forum under the theme "Ventures and startups, beyond unicorns to K-big tech." Key points included: ▲ expanding AI infrastructure such as high-performance GPUs ▲ building regional advanced startup hubs ▲ strengthening a Silicon Valley-level compensation system and global consolidation networks ▲ improving the structure of risk capital and creating a virtuous-cycle ecosystem.
Minister Han Seong-sook said, "The history of ventures shone on the back of technology, but what ultimately moved that technology was the entrepreneurial spirit of venture people," and added, "We will use the on-site sense of speed and problem awareness gained from the forum as a policy milestone to build a foundation for our ventures to command the global market."
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups (MSS) plans to prepare measures to support the growth of Korea's venture ecosystem by reflecting on-the-ground opinions discussed at the forum.
