Hyundai Rotem said on the 9th that it signed a second mass-production contract with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) for obstacle-clearing tanks worth 250 billion won.
The obstacle-clearing tank is a combat engineering tank that removes mines and obstacles using various equipment such as an excavator arm to secure maneuver routes for friendly forces.
In particular, it detonates mines with magnetic influence mine neutralization equipment, and uses the excavator arm to destroy falling rocks or move heavy objects.
The commander's seat now has a wider range of motion, and vibration while moving has been reduced, improving performance in the second mass-production batch.
The tanks produced under this contract are to be deployed to front-line infantry divisions and the Marine Corps. Earlier, the first mass-production batch was prioritized for mechanized units to improve the operability of other Army tanks.
A Hyundai Rotem official said, "The need for obstacle-clearing tanks that maximize the efficiency of tanks is also growing," and added, "We will do our best to contribute to defense and security."
