HS Hyosung carried out its regular 2026 executive appointments on the 9th, including the selection of new Chair Kim Kyu-young.
In this appointment, HS Hyosung named former Hyosung vice chair Kim Kyu-young as chair of HS Hyosung Group. It promoted Song Sung-jin, head of the Transworld PU, and Yang Jeong-gyu, executive managing director and CEO of HS Hyosung Information Systems Co., to executive vice president, respectively, and announced appointments for a total of 10 executives, including two new executives.
A company official said of Chair Kim's selection that it reflected Vice Chair Cho Hyun-sang's long-held view that "HS Hyosung family members are the most precious asset, and anyone with the capability can become the group's chair."
This round of appointments was made under selection criteria of ▲ talent to lead value management based on technology and quality ▲ personnel who contributed to company growth under performance-based principles ▲ discovery and development of talent grounded in diversity.
New Chair Kim Kyu-young joined Tongyang Nylon, the predecessor company of Hyosung, in 1972 as a new hire and served as plant manager of Ulsan (Eonyang) and Anyang, president in charge of China, and Hyosung CTO and head of the R&D center. Kim contributed to establishing textile technology, including the development of spandex, and to improving technology quality, and served as CEO of Hyosung's holding company for eight years starting in 2017.
Executive Vice President Song Sung-jin is overseeing supply chain stabilization and logistics, key themes of modern management, contributing to HS Hyosung Group's leap forward. Executive Vice President Yang Jeong-gyu has led HS Hyosung's AI/DX business, one of its key business lines, delivering results for years.
In the planning and management division, Park Chang-beom, senior managing director (associate), was selected as a new executive. Park is set to lead talent development and organizational culture improvement efforts that began after the launch of HS Hyosung Group.
For the new female executive, Jeong Yu-jo, senior managing director (associate), was selected. Jeong, who joined through Hyosung's open recruitment, is a planning specialist who has worked in the corporate planning team, the ESG management team, and the new business team.
