Hanjin said on the 4th that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Kakao Mobility to jointly build an artificial intelligence (AI)-based logistics network.
Through this agreement, Hanjin will link idle-time logistics infrastructure with Kakao Mobility's supply chain to advance its delivery services and pursue expansion of logistics services using the Kakao Mobility platform.
Through this, the company plans to expand the delivery supply chain more densely and flexibly to strengthen service competitiveness and raise customer satisfaction.
Kakao Mobility will connect its logistics system to Hanjin's middle-mile operations to obtain data and will work to develop an optimized AI prediction model.
Across the entire logistics service process, the companies will push to build a joint automated logistics operation system based on AI-driven operating systems and Autonomous Driving technologies. They aim to improve delivery efficiency and safety at the same time, as well as achieve expense reduction and service standardization.
Hanjin and Kakao Mobility will form a joint consultative body to carry out practical and specific services across parcel, logistics, and digital platform businesses, and will proceed with working-level consultations step by step.
The signing ceremony was held on the 3rd, with President Cho Hyun-min (Emily Lee Cho) and CEO Noh Sam-seok of Hanjin, and Kakao Mobility CEO Ryu Geung-seon and Executive Vice President Ahn Gyu-jin, among others from the two companies, in attendance.
A Hanjin official said, "Based on advanced technologies such as AI and Autonomous Driving, we will not only provide a new delivery experience but also build a Logistics 4.0 model that enhances efficiency and convenience for both customers and partner companies."
A Kakao Mobility official said, "Through this collaboration, we will together build a data-driven next-generation logistics operating system and, based on the company's technological prowess and operational capabilities, lead the advancement of the entire industrial ecosystem."
