World Hydrogen Expo organizing committee (co-chairmen: Korea Automobile & Mobility Association Chairman Kang Nam-hoon, Korea Hydrogen Union Chairman Kim Jae-hong) hosted "World Hydrogen Expo 2025" (hereafter WHE 2025), which opened with a morning opening ceremony on Dec. 4.
It will be held for four days from Dec. 4 to 7 at KINTEX Exhibition Hall 2 in Goyang-si, and visiting hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (until 4 p.m. on Sunday the 7th).
From this year, by merging the existing international hydrogen conference and the H2 MEET exhibition into one of the largest events ever, WHE 2025 will host participants from 279 international organizations, related institutions and corporations from 26 overseas countries.
The international conference to be held on Dec. 4-5 is organized into three tracks: Leadership & Market Insight (policy and industry trends of major governments and industries), Hydrogen Deep Dive (technology and industry strategies of major corporations and experts), and Country Day (hydrogen industry cases from three countries).
And the international exhibition to be held Dec. 4-7 is laid out over 22,000 square meters across all areas of hydrogen production, storage, transportation and utilization, serving as a venue for practical technology exchange and business cooperation between global corporations and institutions.
About 400 people attended the opening ceremony, including Kim Seong-hwan, Minister of the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment; Rep. Lee Jong-bae, co-chair of the National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum; the organizing committee co-chairmen (Korea Automobile & Mobility Association Chairman Kang Nam-hoon, Korea Hydrogen Union Chairman Kim Jae-hong); as well as overseas governments and international organizations, and domestic and international industry and related institutions.
Organizing committee chairman Kim Jae-hong said in his opening remarks, "Even as the global hydrogen economy goes through a period of adjustment, leading countries continue to invest from a mid- to long-term perspective," adding, "We have integrated the conference and exhibition from this year to ensure continued investment and create tangible business opportunities, and we will develop World Hydrogen Expo into a 'global hydrogen cooperation platform.'"
Co-organizing committee chairman Kang Nam-hoon said in his welcome remarks, "This hydrogen event, which first began in 2020 under the title 'H2 MEET,' has since expanded and been reorganized to firmly establish itself as a global event in the hydrogen field," adding, "Through this event, where innovative technologies from hydrogen-leading domestic and international companies such as Hyundai Motor Group, Kolon Industries, 3M and HD Hyundai Infracore will be widely showcased, we will spare no support to make it a venue for global exchange and cooperation in the hydrogen industry."
Rep. Lee Jong-bae, co-chair of the National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum, said in his congratulatory remarks, "WHE 2025 will send the message to the world that 'hydrogen leaders should unite through innovation and move faster,' and by strengthening international cooperation and solidarity it will be a meaningful opportunity to raise Korea's stature as a hub of the hydrogen economy," adding, "The National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum will also spare no necessary support in legislation, policy and institutional improvement to foster Korea's hydrogen economy and a clean hydrogen ecosystem."
Rep. Jeong Tae-ho, co-chair of the National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum, said in his congratulatory remarks, "There remain many challenges to tackle, such as advancing a clean hydrogen production system, revitalizing CHPS, expanding hydrogen infrastructure and widening utilization markets, and I sometimes worry that the flow of the hydrogen economy could stall due to market uncertainty and weakened investment," adding, "The National Assembly Hydrogen Economy Forum will do its best to connect voices from the field into policy and to support legislation and enactment to secure the competitiveness of the hydrogen industry."
