SM High Plus, an affiliate in the manufacturing and service institutional sector of SM Group, said on the 2nd that it switched the computer system it had run on its own servers to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
The company said this is the first computer system migration since its establishment in 2007 and is intended to expand, through the overall Hi-Pass card system, into an artificial intelligence (AI)- and data-based mobility payment platform business.
With this system migration, SM High Plus also expects to boost card payment processing performance for Hi-Pass cards while strengthening security stability to prepare for system failures and other issues.
Customer counseling services will also change with the cloud migration and the use of AI functions. The company plans to shift from counseling that had mainly been done by phone to a method using AI counselors (call bots).
It will also speed up its leap as a platform based on AI and data. By analyzing prepaid payment information of Hi-Pass card customers, it will create an environment to identify actual usage patterns, and it plans to introduce various linked services such as insurance, rental cars, maintenance, and used-car finance through analysis of vehicle information and traffic data.
Chief Executive Ahn Byung-hyun of SM High Plus said, "(This computer system migration) goes beyond simply changing systems and is significant as a transition of infrastructure to transform into a mobility finance data company," adding, "We will use AI and big data to smartly support customers' mobility and payment in everyday life and focus on strengthening leadership in the domestic and international mobility ecosystem."
