LG Energy Solution said on the 27th that the board approved the 2026 regular executive appointments, promoting Kim Hyeong-sik, head of the energy storage system (ESS) battery division, to executive vice president and newly appointing six senior vice presidents.
LG Energy Solution said it was part of a strategic and efficient personnel operation focused on responding swiftly to market changes such as the electric vehicle "chasm" (temporary demand slowdown) and tariff agreements, and maximizing organizational execution. LG Energy Solution also focused on business restructuring and efficiency to strengthen fundamental competitive advantages and boost portfolio profitability, securing product competitiveness, and enhancing research and development (R&D) and technological competitiveness.
Along with the executive appointments, LG Energy Solution also carried out a small-scale organizational reshuffle. LG Energy Solution integrated production organizations under its business divisions to ensure stable form-factor transitions at global production plants and optimize operations. It also reinforced the ESS battery division to preemptively respond to the rapidly growing ESS market.
In addition, LG Energy Solution newly assigned Executive Vice President Oh Yu-seong (currently head of the small battery division) as head of the automotive battery division, and Senior Vice President Jeong Won-hui, head of the automotive PM Group, as head of the small battery division.
