Mercedes-Benz Korea Co., Ltd. is launching a limited edition model, the Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition (Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition), commemorating the tradition of the V12 engine first installed in the legendary "Maybach Zeppelin".
The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition is a model that showcases the essence of the luxury heritage, innovation and craftsmanship of Mercedes-Maybach, Mercedes-Benz's top brand, and was created to commemorate the tradition of the V12 engine, which has been synonymous with Maybach since the early 20th century.
The heritage is reinterpreted in a modern way through custom design elements completed with craftsmanship, including an interior hand-finished through the top-tier vehicle bespoke program MANUFAKTUR, special two-tone paint and silver pinstripe, and 24-carat pure gold details.
The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition, first unveiled last September at the historic Forte Michelangelo in Civitavecchia, Italy, will be sold worldwide in a limited run of 50 units, with 10 units released in the Korean market. Domestic customers are scheduled to receive deliveries in January next year, and the vehicle's price is 478 million won (reflecting the special consumption tax reduction and including value-added tax).
Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz Korea is hosting a "Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition private showcase" at Putura Seoul in Bukchon, Jongno-gu, Seoul, through the 28th, where invited customers can preview the vehicle before deliveries next year. Invited customers can directly experience the ultimate values the Maybach brand pursues and its hyper-personalized customer service through a MANUFAKTUR tour that includes demonstrations by global masters from the German headquarters and custom events alongside the vehicle.
Since the 1920s, Maybach has established itself as a symbol of advanced technology, elegance and design tailored to individual tastes, and each model has been uniquely designed to reflect the owner's personality. "Creating only the best from the best, of lasting value, in the highest form of perfection," the creed of Wilhelm Maybach and Karl Maybach, has guided the production of the finest cars for more than a century.
The origin of the Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition traces back to the early 1930s to the first mass-produced Maybach 12-cylinder engine installed in the legendary model "Maybach Zeppelin." At the time, the 7- to 8-liter V12 engine applied to the Maybach Zeppelin delivered a peak of 147 kW (200 hp) and enabled a top speed of 170 km/h, providing powerful performance and resilience.
The engine philosophy that became a cornerstone of the brand's history is fully reflected in the Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition. Based on the Mercedes-Maybach S 680, the V12 edition is equipped with a powerfully and precisely tuned V12 gasoline engine, producing a peak output of 630 ps and a maximum torque of 91.7 kg.m from a displacement of 5,980 cc. This allows acceleration from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds and smooth, stable acceleration to a top speed of 250 km/h.
The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition, as the pinnacle of modern flagship sedans, also features the latest comfort and driving specifications. The vehicle offers power-operated rear comfort doors; an active road noise reduction system for a quieter cabin; rear axle steering providing up to 4.5 degrees of rear-wheel steering angle; AIRMATIC suspension that delivers exceptional ride comfort and stability in any road condition; two-seat rear first-class seats with comfort comparable to aircraft first class; executive seats that include ventilated massage neck and shoulder heating functions and up to 43.5° of reclining; a chauffeur package with calf massage function and the ability to move the front passenger seat to create more rear space; and a refrigerator that stores champagne glasses and bottles. Together with the Burmester® high-end 4D surround sound system, it offers a new dimension of in-vehicle audio experience.
The Mercedes-Maybach V12 Edition continues the brand's unique craftsmanship through the MANUFAKTUR program. First, the exterior emphasizes distinctive personality with a bold two-tone color combination. The upper body is finished in MANUFAKTUR olive metallic, the lower body in Obsidian black metallic, and contrasted with a Hightech silver metallic pinstripe. This paintwork is applied through meticulous processes and takes up to 10 days — twice as long as Maybach's signature two-tone paintwork.
In addition, five-hole forged wheels in MANUFAKTUR olive metallic enhance the design's completeness, and a dedicated Maybach V12 Edition emblem attached to the C-pillar adds a special touch. This emblem combines Maybach's double M symbol with chrome and gold medals, and the prominently engraved number "12" commemorates the hood ornament of the legendary Maybach Zeppelin DS 8. The 24-carat pure gold medal ring is decorated with a 12-part diamond engraving, and the medal inlay of the same material features an intricate V pattern inspired by the V arrangement of the V12 engine cylinders.
The interior harmoniously pairs MANUFAKTUR exclusive saddle brown Nappa leather upholstery with glossy walnut wood trim in brown, extending to a steering wheel meticulously handcrafted. A saddle brown roof liner with diamond quilting technique, edition-exclusive embroidery, and an edition badge on the center console reading "1 of 50" add to the rarity. The rear center console is finished with luxury inlays made of 24-carat pure gold, demonstrating the highest level of craftsmanship. The commemorative medal, the number '12' and the Maybach emblem surrounded by twelve golden circles reinterpret the brand's iconic pattern. This intricate inlay is completed through careful handcrafting over up to seven days, proving exceptional craftsmanship.
Custom accessories are provided as standard, including Robbe & Berking silver-plated champagne glasses engraved with the edition's exclusive inscription, trunk mats edged in saddle brown, and an edition-exclusive key box and key chain hand-crafted at the MANUFAKTUR studio in Sindelfingen, Germany.
