LS Group carried out a personnel reshuffle that promotes LS MnM CEO Koo Dong-hwi to president.
LS Group said on the 25th that it conducted 2026 executive appointments aimed at organizational stability and future readiness to prepare for an uncertain business environment in 2026. First, it retained most CEOs of major affiliates to minimize organizational change while pursuing stabilization and efficiency.
Perhaps as a result, the only promotion to president is Koo. Born in 1982, Koo is the eldest son of LS Group board chair Koo Ja-yeol and a third-generation manager. Koo moved at the start of 2024 from LS ELECTRIC executive vice president in charge of vision management to LS MnM chief operating officer (COO), and was appointed CEO at the end of that year. The promotion to president comes one year after being named CEO.
Since last year, Koo has served as LS MnM CEO and restored profitability in the existing smelting business through efficient operations, including increased sales of precious metals. Going forward, Koo plans to take the lead in building an electric-vehicle materials ecosystem, one of the group's visions, by fostering core secondary-battery materials such as nickel sulfate and precursors.
LS Group also carried out performance-based promotions, taking into account the boom in the power business. At LS ELECTRIC, which drove major business growth amid the power supercycle this year, executive directors Ahn Gil-young and Chae Dae-seok were promoted to senior vice president, and at LS ITC, executive director Cho Eui-je, who led the group's artificial intelligence (AI) work efficiency, was also promoted to senior vice president. LS plans to invigorate the organization through bold promotions for high performers.
Through the 2026 executive appointments, LS Group plans to respond to internal and external uncertainty and crises and accelerate Vision 2030 management strongly pushed by Chair Koo Ja-eun. Vision 2030 centers on investing more than 20 trillion won by 2030 to nurture new businesses such as carbon-free power generation, batteries, electric vehicles, and semiconductors and grow into a company with more than 50 trillion won in assets.
In these appointments, the promotion to president is one person, Koo Dong-hwi (LS MnM); promotions to senior vice president are three people, Ahn Gil-young and Chae Dae-seok (both LS ELECTRIC) and Cho Eui-je (LS ITC); promotions to executive director are five people, Lee Chung-hee, Cho Uk-dong, Park Woo-beom, and Yoon Won-ho (all LS ELECTRIC) and Kim Sang-mu (E1); and promotions to managing director are nine people, Lee Jin-ho, Choi Jong-seop, and Choi Hae-un (all LS ELECTRIC), Lee Seung-gon and Kim Dong-hwan (both LS MnM), Song In-deok (LS Mtron), Lee Chang-woo (INVENI), Kim Eun-il (Yesco), and Kim Geun-sik (Gaon Cable).
In addition, 12 people were newly appointed as directors: Ji Ye-gyu, Son Si-ho, and Yu Chang-woo (all LS Cable & System); Yu Dong-il, Park Jun-seok, Choi Gyu-tae, and Baek Seung-taek (all LS ELECTRIC); Lee Jeong-tae (LS MnM); Kim Myung-hoon (LS Mtron); Kang Ki-hoon (E1); Lee Je-hwan (Yesco); and Kim Young-ho (Gaon Cable).
