Volvo Car Korea (CEO Lee Yun-mo) said on the 20th that it donated 350 million won to the Purme Foundation (chairman Kang Ji-won, executive director Baek Gyeong-hak) to support assistive devices for children with disabilities.
The donation ceremony was held on Nov. 19 at the Yongsan exhibition hall in Seoul, and Volvo Car Korea CEO Lee Yun-mo, executive director Lee Man-sik, Purme Foundation executive director Baek Gyeong-hak, Ted Chung, secretary-general Jeong Tae-young, and other key officials attended.
Volvo Car Korea, based on the "human-centric" philosophy, has continued its cooperation with the Purme Foundation for nine years since 2017. To date it has donated a total of 2.7 billion won and provided customized assistive devices to 874 children and adolescents with disabilities.
This year's donation will be used for providing customized assistive devices to about 100 children and adolescents with disabilities under age 18, operating a pediatric rehabilitation hospital, and supporting cultural and artistic performances. Detailed information about the support can be found on the Purme Foundation website.
Volvo Car Korea CEO Lee Yun-mo said, "The nine-year cooperation with the Purme Foundation is a meaningful journey in practicing Volvo Car Korea's 'For Life' philosophy," adding, "We will continue various social contribution activities so that children with disabilities can pursue their dreams without mobility limitations."
Volvo Car Korea continued various social contribution activities this year for children's safety and healthy growth. It donated about 15,000 'children safety key rings' to the child care support center for child pedestrian safety, ran the "볼수록 보여요" campaign to prevent traffic accidents in apartment complexes and broadcast traffic safety videos in about 60,000 elevators in the Seoul metropolitan area, and conveyed the value of warm sharing with families through events such as the "Pororo sing-along show" for families of children with disabilities and the "Volvo toy hospital" held with the Swedish embassy.
