HS Hyosung Advanced Materials said on the 19th that it will take part in the Milipol Paris 2025 exhibition, to be held in Paris, France, from the 18th to the 21st of this month, and unveil its aramid fiber brand AlkeX.
Milipol Paris, hosted by the French Ministry of the Interior, is Europe's largest homeland security exhibition and is held every two years. This year's exhibition is expected to draw participation from more than 1,100 corporations and attract 30,000 visitors from 160 countries.
HS Hyosung Advanced Materials plans to promote its aramid fiber brand AlkeX, developed with its own technology, to global customers in Europe, the Americas, and beyond at this exhibition. It will also support overseas promotion of aramid bulletproof helmets and bulletproof vests made by its domestic partner Kyung Chang Industrial.
Aramid, known as a super fiber, is a high-strength, flame-resistant fiber that is five times stronger than steel and can withstand high temperatures of 500 degrees. It is used in a wide range of applications, including bulletproof vests, bulletproof helmets, optical cable reinforcements, tire reinforcements, and firefighting suits.
With the expansion of the electric vehicle market, which requires high-strength tire reinforcements, the aramid market is expected to grow by about 5% annually over the next five years.
Chief Executive Lim Jin-dal of HS Hyosung Advanced Materials said, "AlkeX is already used in bulletproof equipment for militaries and police in several European countries and has earned favorable reviews from customers for its excellent quality," adding, "We will continue to strengthen the stature of K-defense with AlkeX at the forefront."
