HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering, the intermediate shipbuilding holding company of HD Hyundai, said on the 14th that it recently signed a construction contract with a shipping company based in Oceania for two crude oil carriers worth 256.2 billion won. The 256.2 billion won order equals 1.77% of HD Hyundai Heavy Industries' sales last year.
The vessels in this order will be built by HD Hyundai Heavy Industries and delivered sequentially by the second half of 2028.
With this contract, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering has secured orders for a total of 100 ships so far this year, worth $13.59 billion (about 19.83 trillion won), achieving 75.3% of its annual order target of $18.05 billion (about 26.35 trillion won).
By ship type, the orders comprise five liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, six LNG bunkering vessels, nine liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and ammonia carriers, two ethane carriers, 61 container ships, 16 tankers, and one petrochemical product carrier (PC ship).
