HD Hyundai Heavy Industries said on the 10th that it signed a construction contract with Thailand's Regional Container Lines for two container ships.
The vessels ordered this time are 13,800-TEU class, measuring 337 meters in length, 51 meters in breadth, and 27.3 meters in height. They will also be equipped with scrubbers, an exhaust gas reduction device.
The value of the newbuild contract is 435.3 billion won, and the ships will be built at the Ulsan HD Hyundai Heavy Industries shipyard and delivered sequentially by Oct. 2028.
With this contract, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries won its first construction deal from Regional Container Lines and expects to expand cooperation going forward. Regional Container Lines is a shipping company that ranks 21st in the world by slot capacity.
With this order, HD Hyundai has won orders for 61 container ships this year alone. That is more than double the record of 28 ships last year and 28 ships in 2023.
An HD Hyundai Heavy Industries official said, "In the container ship sector, where solid demand continues, orders are steadily coming in based on eco-friendly technology and stable quality control capabilities."
