Hyosung Heavy Industries said on the 5th that it will take part in the Bitgaram International Electric Power Technology Expo (BIXPO) 2025, a global power and energy convergence expo held at the Kimdaejung Convention Center in Gwangju, and introduce next-generation power grids such as high-voltage direct current (HVDC).
At BIXPO, Hyosung Heavy Industries will propose a new way to operate future power grids. At this exhibition, Hyosung Heavy Industries will showcase products such as ▲ Korea's first homegrown voltage-source HVDC developed with independent technology ▲ ARMOUR+, an artificial intelligence (AI)-based power equipment asset management platform ▲ an integrated smart diagnosis solution service for power devices using smart glasses.
It decided to put front and center the voltage-source HVDC, which is expected to play a central role in the government's West Coast energy expressway construction project. The 200MW voltage-source HVDC developed with Hyosung Heavy Industries' own technology has been successfully installed at the Korea Electric Power Corporation Yangju Substation and is being stably operated.
A Hyosung Heavy Industries official said, "This exhibition will serve as an opportunity to provide Hyosung Heavy Industries' total solution to domestic and overseas power industry stakeholders for the changing energy environment. We will advance power infrastructure technologies, including HVDC, to lead the nation's energy transition."
Meanwhile, BIXPO 2025 is a global exhibition and academic conference hosted by the Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), with more than 200 domestic and overseas corporations and over 20,000 power industry experts participating.
