Walt Disney Company Japan said on the 4th that it has signed a multi-year content partnership with CJ ENM. With this partnership, Disney+ will establish itself as a key subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) partner in Japan to offer TVING's premium content.
Through this partnership, Disney+ will present TVING's new Korean drama series to viewers in Japan. Starting Nov. 5, it will roll out about 60 popular Korean drama titles, including "Guardian: The Lonely and Great God" and Reply 1988. In particular, "Dear X," starring Kim Yoo-jung, Kim Young-dae and Kim Do-hoon, which will be released exclusively in Korea on Nov. 6, will also stream exclusively on Disney+ in Japan.
To showcase this special lineup, Disney+ Japan is newly introducing "TVING Highlights," a curated selection of recommended Korean drama. Alongside TVING content, Disney+'s global hit franchises, blockbuster hits and premium original series will be programmed together to offer viewers an even richer and more diverse viewing experience.
It will also launch a "TVING Collection" branded hub. Through this, viewers in Japan can watch a wide range of CJ ENM and TVING content in one place. Korean series that lead their genres will be provided sequentially.
