Kia said on the 3rd that it sold 263,904 vehicles in the global market last month, down 0.5% from a year earlier. During the same period, domestic sales (40,041 units) fell 13.1%, while overseas sales (223,014 units) rose 2.1%.
By model, the Sportage was the best seller in the global market with 47,341 units. The Seltos followed with 25,406 units, and the Sorento with 21,824 units.
In Korea last month, Kia sold 40,041 vehicles, down 13.1%. The best-selling vehicle was the Sorento with 6,788 units. Among passenger cars, the Ray sold 3,382 units, the K5 3,045 units, and the K8 2,129 units, for a total of 11,319 units.
Among recreational vehicles (RV), a total of 23,926 units were sold, including 4,515 Carnivals, 4,055 Sportages, 3,365 Seltoses, and 1,423 EV3s, led by the Sorento. In commercial vehicles, a total of 4,756 units were sold, including 2,847 Bongo III trucks.
Overseas sales rose 2.1% to 223,014 units, and by model, the Sportage topped the list with 43,286 units. The Seltos followed with 22,041 units and the Sonet with 21,162 units.
A Kia official said, "Domestic sales fell due to fewer business days during the Chuseok holiday, but sales growth continues in overseas markets," and added, "We will continue our sales momentum by front-loading eco-friendly vehicles such as SUV hybrid models and our dedicated electric vehicle lineup."
