Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun are expected to meet Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang in Seoul on the 30th.
According to the business community on the 28th, CEO Huang is scheduled to attend Nvidia's event marking the 25th anniversary of the Korea launch of its graphics card (GPU) "GeForce," held at COEX in Seoul on the 30th, and then have a dinner meeting with Chairman Chung. Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee is also expected to join them.
Chairman Lee and Chairman Chung are said to be moving to Seoul after finishing their schedules for the "2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit" in Gyeongju to meet CEO Huang. The three also met at the "Korea-U.S. Business Roundtable" held in Washington, D.C., at the end of August to coincide with President Lee Jae-myung's visit to the United States.
The meeting raises attention to whether there will be progress in cooperation among Samsung Electronics, Hyundai Motor Group, and Nvidia. The three companies are reportedly set to discuss cooperation plans related to semiconductors, software-defined vehicles (SDV), Robotics, and smart factories.
At the start of the year, Hyundai Motor Group signed a strategic partnership with Nvidia for Mobility Innovation. At the time, Hyundai Motor Group said it would use Nvidia's accelerated computing hardware and Generative AI development tools to make mobility solutions such as SDV and Robotics more intelligent, and strengthen the application of artificial intelligence (AI) technology across its business operations.
Attention is also on whether CEO Huang and Chairman Lee will discuss adopting High Bandwidth Memory (HBM), a core of AI Semiconductor. Samsung Electronics' fifth-generation HBM product, "HBM3E 12-layer," has passed Nvidia's tests and is set to be supplied.
