Hanwha Ocean said at its third-quarter earnings conference call on the 27th, "We plan to submit a proposal for Poland's Orca project soon, and the preferred bidder could be designated as early as within the year," and added, "Several European competitors are participating, but negotiations are currently progressing actively on a government-to-government basis."
Hanwha Ocean is currently competing with leading overseas defense companies to win the $8 trillion won Poland submarine acquisition program, the "Orca project."
It went on to explain, "Talks are also underway for the Royal Thai Navy's surface ship program, and a conclusion is expected in the first half of next year. The outline could be confirmed within this year."
It added, "We are also concurrently discussing submarine programs in Greece, Colombia, Chile, and the Philippines, as well as naval ship projects in the Middle East. The most imminent timelines are Poland and Thailand, and the Middle East is also seeing an acceleration in project pace."
