LG Group has begun a business briefing to review this year's performance and draw up business plans for next year.
According to industry sources on the 23rd, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo will begin receiving business reports starting today from electronics affiliates such as LG Electronics and LG Display. The briefings are scheduled to proceed in the order of chemical affiliates including LG CHEM and LG Energy Solution, and telecommunications affiliates including LG Uplus.
The LG Group business briefing is a forum where executives from major affiliates gather to assess annual performance and discuss business plans and strategies for next year. The outcomes of the briefings are also reflected in subsequent group organizational reshuffles and executive appointments.
This year, LG Group saw weak results in its core businesses—electronics, electric-vehicle batteries, and chemicals—due to the United States' high-rate tariff impositions and a slump in the EV market. As a result, the briefings are expected to focus on forecasting next year's global economic conditions and how to respond to various external risks.
Meanwhile, during the briefing period next week, Koo plans to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit in Gyeongju. In addition to Koo, Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, and Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun—the heads of the four major conglomerates—will all attend the APEC CEO Summit.
