Honda's global best-selling SUV CR-V marks its 30th anniversary.
Honda Korea unveiled a CR-V 30th anniversary logo and a dedicated website that showcases the history of the CR-V at a glance to commemorate the 30th anniversary.
The Honda CR-V, short for Comfortable Runabout Vehicle (comfortable multipurpose vehicle), is an innovative SUV model developed under the concept of the "Creative Mover" series, which proposes a more enjoyable and enriched lifestyle for people's daily lives.
Pioneering a new genre called the urban SUV, with a comfortable ride and outstanding mobility, it has remained popular worldwide even 30 years after its initial release. The CR-V is currently sold in about 150 countries, and global cumulative sales have exceeded 15 million units.
In particular, based on cumulative sales over the recent 10 years from 2015 to 2024, the CR-V has been the top-selling model among Honda vehicles.
Since its first release in Japan in 1995, the Honda CR-V has undergone continuous evolution reflecting customers' needs by era and is now in its sixth generation.
The sixth-generation CR-V, first revealed in 2022, is based on Honda's two-motor hybrid system and sets a new standard for hybrid SUVs in every respect, offering powerful driving performance, excellent environmental performance, user-centered space and convenience, and enhanced safety, and it was released domestically in September 2023. In July 2024, Honda presented the CR-V e:FCEV, a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle based on the sixth-generation CR-V, demonstrating the CR-V's limitless potential.
The CR-V has received excellent evaluations across design, performance and safety from major global automotive media and evaluation organizations. It was named Car and Driver's 2025 best compact SUV and 2025 best hybrid compact SUV, and Kelley Blue Book also selected the CR-V as the 2025 best compact SUV. It has also been recognized in world markets, being chosen as the 2023 car of the year by News Corp Australia and as the 2023 car of the year by Autocar New Zealand.
Honda Korea is preparing to launch the 2026 model-year facelift of the sixth-generation CR-V hybrid in November. Ahead of that, as a preview, the customer-invited event "Honda Day Ride N Drive" on the 25th will operate a CR-V 30th anniversary exhibition zone.
