On the 20th, the first day after taking office, HD Hyundai Chairman Chung Ki-sun had lunch with employees at the cafeteria in the HD Hyundai Global R&D Center (GRC) in Seongnam, Gyeonggi.
According to HD Hyundai and others on the 21st, Chung ate noodles served for lunch with employees the previous day, chatted with them, and took photos together.
Chung said, "I will meet you anytime, anywhere, listen carefully, and communicate," adding, "I hope HD Hyundai becomes a place where you can voice new ideas without hesitation and actively exchange thoughts with one another."
Chung, the eldest son of Asan Foundation Chairman Chung Mong-joon, is a third-generation owner. On the 17th, the promotion from senior vice chairman to chairman was announced in HD Hyundai's executive appointments, elevating him to the top post 16 years after joining the company.
Immediately after taking office, Chung also diagnosed crises by institutional sector—shipbuilding, construction equipment, refining and petrochemicals—and suggested directions in an in-house message to executives and employees.
Chung said, "We will do our utmost to become a Future Builder who pioneers the future of humanity," adding, "Despite numerous difficulties before, we focused on 'what can be done right now' and executed with full force to create 'what only we can do.' I am confident that we can continue to fulfill the responsibilities and duties entrusted to us."
