Dongkuk CM, a Dongkuk Steel Mill group company specializing in cold-rolled galvanized and color steel sheets, said on the 17th that it developed the world's first "Dual Stone" technology that simultaneously reproduces the same texture and realistic design as natural materials such as natural stone on steel sheets.
The new products applying this technology are two types, "Double Stone" and "Marble Stone," and are currently patent pending. Dongkuk CM has completed quality testing and is in final talks with customers in the United States and Europe to produce prototypes applying the new technology.
Double Stone reproduces the texture and surface color of stone, while Marble Stone reproduces the gritty feel of stone powder particles and the surface design. The pattern length has also been extended from the conventional 1 m to up to 10 m.
Choi Woo-chan, head of the Dongkuk CM Technology Research Institute, said, "This is a high-value specialty product that can replace expensive natural building materials, and a technology possible only in Korea anywhere in the world," and added, "We expect it to grow into a competitive product that can overcome tariff barriers and a market slowdown."
