Song Jin-woo, Shim Ji-ho, Lee Ki-sang and Honda Korea worked up a sweat at Purme Social Farm. They properly carried out hand-sharing volunteer work.
Honda Korea (CEO Lee Ji-hong) said on the 15th that on the 14th it carried out hand-sharing volunteer work together with Honda ambassadors and employees at Purme Social Farm, the country's first smart farm–based workplace for young people with developmental disabilities in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province.
Purme Social Farm is a smart farm built in Sep. 2022 by the Purme Foundation, which helps the rehabilitation and independence of people with disabilities, providing stable jobs and supporting independence for young people with developmental disabilities. Currently, 55 young people with developmental disabilities are employed as regular employees, receiving fair wages and rights while working.
Since 2021, Honda Korea has been sponsoring the Purme Foundation with a Honda CR-V hybrid vehicle, and the provided vehicle is being used at Purme Social Farm to ensure safe and convenient transportation for young farmers with developmental disabilities. The Purme Social Farm hand‑helping activity is being held this year for the third time to realize one of Honda's core principles, "respect for people," and to directly experience and support Purme Social Farm's value and meaning that people should be respected equally without discrimination due to disabilities.
About 40 people participated in this hand‑helping activity, including Honda ambassadors — actors Song Jin-woo and Shim Ji-ho, professional golfer Lee Ki-sang — and about 20 Honda Korea employees. They helped with post‑harvest processes at Purme Social Farm by harvesting cherry tomatoes being grown there and working with young employees with developmental disabilities to sort, wash and package them.
Actor Song Jin-woo, a Honda pilot ambassador who took part that day, said, "The moments spent working and sweating together with young people with developmental disabilities were enjoyable and rewarding," and added, "I will continue to cheer for Purme Social Farm to become a place of hope for them."
Honda Korea CEO Lee Ji-hong said, "I hope our small contribution can help the Purme Foundation and Purme Social Farm, which are making great efforts to create a world without discrimination," and said, "Honda Korea will continue to strive to deliver warm hope and support to places in society that need help."
