On the 26th, at the Shilla Hotel in Jangchung-dong, Seoul, Heo said this in congratulatory remarks at the "SME AX Leaders Forum," held under the theme "Turning crisis into opportunity, innovation into the future."
The "SME AX Leaders Forum" is a forum in the SMEs and startups field first hosted by ChosunBiz, the economic news outlet of the Chosun Media Group. The Ministry of SMEs and Startups, its affiliated agencies, small and medium-sized enterprise CEOs, and artificial intelligence (AI) experts are taking part to assess the current crisis facing small and medium-sized enterprises and discuss AX strategies to drive innovation. Heo first mentioned the crisis facing Korean manufacturing due to the rise of Chinese manufacturing. He then stressed that "to overcome the onslaught of Chinese manufacturing and the innovative competitiveness of Chinese manufacturing, there is no alternative but digital transformation and AI transformation."
Heo went on to highlight the importance of AX, citing the smartification of the Changwon national industrial complex during his tenure as Changwon mayor. He said, "Under the slogan of building manufacturing competitiveness through large-scale smartification, we converted the Changwon industrial complex into a smart manufacturing innovation industrial complex."
He added, "Among them, the corporations that carried this out successfully include President Oh Kyung-jin of Taerim Industry, who is presenting today," and "I hope today's forum will discuss a vision for the future direction of AI and the transition, based on successful cases nationwide."
